Story: This painting is inspired by the late architect Antoni Gaudi. I wanted to represent Gaudi’s wonderful mosaic patterns from the Serpentine bench in Parc Guell, Barcelona, and the unique finishing decorations at the top of the walls as you walk up the entry stairway to the park.

Antoni Gaudi, 1852 – 1926, commissioned by Count E. Guell to create a residential garden village. 1918 the city acquired Parc Guell for the public. The tile mosaic serpentine bench twists around a plaza originally planned as the village marketplace. Views from the plaza look over Barcelona as far as the Mediterranean Sea. Centre of view is la Sagrada Familia.
