Celtic Art - Spirals

Celtic Art has five elements of design: Knots, Spirals, Step Patterns, Key Patterns & Zoomorphic design. This course focuses solely on Spirals, starting with the basics, how to use them in different shapes, to designing your own multi-spiral pattern.
I take you step-by-step through drawing each Celtic spiral design, using a proven simple method that makes the process easy. Starting with small designs and building into large, layered pages of pattern.
Materials list for students:
  • 2B mechanical/pacer pencil
  • Ruler, 30cm or longer
  • Eraser
  • Compass
  • Empty jar, for rinse water
  • Rag, soft & absorbent like t-shirt fabric
  • Colour media, what you have or prefer to use: colour pencils; pigment markers;
  • Paints – water colours or watercolour gouache, acrylics
